WELCOME TO SALLY KINDBERG'S WEBSITE!
Author and illustrator Sally Kindberg has a vast experience of working on books and features, and running drawing workshops for both children and adults in venues as far apart as China and the Outer Hebrides.
Sally has drawn comic strips for a four-book Bloomsbury series, including the Comic Strip History of Space. As her childhood ambition to be an astronaut has not (yet) been realised, she explored the outer galaxies by drawing them. She is the author/illustrator of Bloomsbury's Draw It! series, including Draw It! London, all about one hundred wonders to discover and draw in the capital. FREE! Fantastic Draw It! Activity pack (PDF) to download
During her time as a travel writer, Sally wrote and illustrated a regular column for the Independent on Saturday, sailed on a Tall Ship to Lisbon, and attended Elf School in Iceland. She is currently working on a book in comic strip form, has investigated and drawn the story of gold for the Bank of England Museum, made comic strips for CBBC's Life Babble, and is the curator of a Museum of Dust, which includes samples from the Great Wall of China and Dr. Who's Tardis.
Museum of Dust - on tour...
Dust is fascinating. Apparently, we're all made of dust from ancient stars, once responsible for the elements that make up our human bodies. Can these tiny specific samples in Sally Kindberg's MUSEUM of DUST evoke their origins, of locations, events and the characters connected to them?. The Museum of Dust has previously been exhibited in Falmouth, Cornwall, at the Art Workers' Guild Table Top Museums event, and in 2023, at Swedenborg House, London.

Hair
- Sally Kindberg
(Walker Books, £2.99), ages 6+
Asked
why she wanted to write about hair, the author simply said "Because
I love it!" Her fascination is obvious from the casually
tousled mass of zany information which packs this book, along
with her own characterful black ink drawings. For this age-group,
the text is unusually long, but it needs to be, because this writer
seriously knows her hair.
From historical snippets such as the habit of 14th-century ladies
to sit in moonlight to make their hair blonde, to the unappealing
add-on that 14m US children have nits, a reader's knowledge of
hair is guaranteed to grow to Rapunzel-esque lengths.

Quick Flick
Oh,
how we love to leaf through a funny hair book, and this offering
had us totally hooked. HAIR, by Sally Kindberg, (£2.99,
Walker Books) might not be the most adult of reads, but it's full
of hair facts and funny quotes. And hey, who wants to be grown-up,
anyway? Love it!
